My Guy Luke

My 10 year old son Luke has had long surfer dude kind of hair since kindergarten. He’s in fourth grade now. He was thinking about getting his hair cut when my husband suggested Locks of Love. Sooooo he grew is hair even longer, waiting patiently for it to get to the required 10 inches. The game plan was to divide it into several ponytails, but still 10 inches is awfully long for a boy. He came to a point where he just wanted it gone. So who knew, but Pantene has a similar program where it only has to be 8 inches long. Luke Schmitzer has donated 4 gorgeous 8 inch ponytails to Pantene. You’re the man Luke!

   I donated my hair about 8 years ago, to make a long story short (no pun intended)…I’d been out at the burn barrel and threw some fire starter on the wet leaves. I didn’t wait the required 10 min for the fumes to dissipate (who has time for that!) and lit the fire.

   To make light (hahaha! again, no pun intended) of the situation, after the smoke cleared I looked like Don King. A back draft had occurred - and I lost all of the hair on my arms & face - and my hair - well - imagine Don King and that’s what it looked like in the front - only blonde.

   No, thankfully, I wasn’t hurt. My daughter (4 at the time) said she saw a baby angel protecting me - and believe you me - there had to have been because I should have been seriously hurt - and left with much worse than a bad hairstyle!

   Anyway - called my hairdresser up and she was able to fit me in immediately - and that’s when I decided to donate the rest to Locks of Love. 12″ ponytails of virgin hair … it was time for a haircut anyway.

   I ended up with a very similar hairstyle to Luke - but I have to say that cut suits him much better than it did me!

   Yes, look, a very handsome look on you!
